The current plant nursery was established in 1987 and now covers 12 acres, almost half of which is under cover. This allows for an annual production of 1,200,000 plants, most of which fill the plant benches of garden centres and DIY stores, while around 10% of production being landscape plants for landscape gardeners and Local Authorities. The video shows the entire production process, from propagation to potting on in our potting shed and growing on to final despatch. Most of the plants are propagated on site and grown on from plug stage into finished plants. Pot sizes range from 7cm to 7.5ltr. The company’s own lorries deliver the shop ready plants to customers within 8 hours to ensure they arrive in perfect condition. Schram also provide their own labels and point of sale material with all plants. The company is run by father and son team, Flip and Tim Schram, who have picked up many awards for their top quality herbaceous perennials, alpines, herbs and bamboos. Over the years they have developed an outstanding collection of easy to grow, good value garden plants called the Nice and Easy range. During the busy season the company employs up to 25 members of staff.
